Applebee's Broomfield
I Love Fridays...The day, not the restaurant. It's the best day of the week. Everyone can stay out late, no one has to work the next morning, and even if they do, "Screw It, I'm Getting F'd Up! I'll go in hungover." That is exactly the attitiude that we all love to see, because you know someone somewhere is gonna do something stupid, and wake up wondering how they lost an eyebrow, or wonder who this person is laying next to them, or even why they got painted purple.
Robin Williams discribed my personal favorite. This person was so jacked up the night before that they would blackout, and couldn't remember what they did when they woke up the next morning. Their stories always start like "I woke up this morning, and I couldn't remember how I got home. I was fully clothed, all my money was in my wallet, and I still had my watch on."
That's when you say something like "Well isn't that a good thing?", and they respond back with "Ya, but the strangest thing happened.
SOMEONE SHIT MY PANTS!" HA!
Enough with waking up next to the purple guy with one eyebrow who shit his pants, lets move on to the highlights from last night.
Team BAMF - Bad Ass Mother Fu*kers came out in style. These guys being "first timers" played like they were old hands. Letting me know that they "didn't want any babies in their drink" this team was able to guess almost every song that I played, and were nipping at the heels of the top spot all the way up to the final question. Slovakia and Taber though were not capital cities, and that's where they met their fate. Falling just short of the prize podium, they finished in forth place.
Another 'first timer", Bouquet of Forks did however manager to make their way into a contender spot. This team, celebrating Chrissy's birthday, decided to play just before the game started, and ended up walking away with third place. Let's all welcome Bouquet of Forks as the newest team to join up and compete on the 2010 Summer League Tournament.
Coffee In A Staff Cup, and Strawrappers are devoted triviaholics. These teams play here at Broomfield on a regular basis, and make regular appearances to the winners' circle every time. Coffee In A Staff Cup earned 2 extra points with the theme round. The theme was "Cover Songs", but they convinced me that Judd Nelson's character in THE BREAKFAST CLUB, who wore a jacket on this SHOULDERS in the movie, was named Bender, and that the ROBOT from Futurama is named Bender as well. They really thought too far into it, but it was creative, so they earned 2 extra points. Those crazy Canadians!
Another honorable mention was Technical Difficulties. These guys showed up to play the last round, and the final question. For the few questions they were present for, they batted 1000 (softball humor). 1554, Choch, Team Amey, and M.D. (camera shy) all played an excellent game but fell short in the long run. A Good Time Was Had By All!
