Applebee's Brighton
Wednesday night's are a beautiful thing, you're half-way through your work week, and there's cheap drinks and trivia to pique your brain in hopes that the mundane tasks of the week haven't rendered your thinker as a stagnant blob of grey matter. At least, that's the case for me. I've been getting to know the teams at Brighton better now that I'm starting to see who are becoming the regular trivia enthusiasts. Last night, Kycor and Nancy both got all four of the final bonus questions right and bet their fifteen points for a pay-off of first and second place. The Recreational Procreators( I still love that name) bet five and lost five at the final question as did the Bodees. Team Ass, which was one bald guy at the end of the bar who liked to shout out answers and prove his name's sake, finally gave in and played the game with answer sheets, where he continued to prove his ass-like ambition with a hearty score of 1 point. All in all, an excellent night and a mad shout out to the Brighton Applebee's staff for being so amazing and fun to work with.

Applebee's Arvada
Wednesday night pitted a bunch of regulars against each other at Applebee's in Arvada. Woody's and X both had pretty good games but put themselves into a hole in round four where neither team got a question right. Satchel had a good game, getting two answers that no other team got, but finished one point out of the money. Lost Boys! continued to be a very strong team, finishing in the money again, in third place. Fat Kids Always Win at Seesaw dominated from start to finish and had a three point lead going into the final question. Fat Kids got the final question right but played the wagering game and bet only two, leaving themselves a little short. Aim the Pickle continued it's impressive winning streak. They struggled through much of the game (in fourth at halftime) but didn't miss a seven point question in the second half and nailed both bonus questions. They went into the final question down by five but risked everything with a fifteen point wager that paid off. They walked off with $25 in house cash, another great score for the summer tournament, and, most importantly, bragging rights and a winning streak in tact.

Pat's Lodo
Lodo Rocks on a Wednesay night! Week 2 downtown produced some of the most competitve people I've met so far. Rebel Yell and Red Rocket battled it out, neck and neck throuout the entire game. Each team being one or two points in front of the other. Those two teams were so hell bent on beating the other that they didn't see Kash coming into the contention. It all came down to the final question! Team Kash, the only team to get them all right, AND wager the full 15, pulled ahead of Red Rocket (as they missed the final, and thus lost their wager), and just waited to see if Rebel Yell. Well, Rebel Yell did miss it, but they bet wise, knowing they would, so they didn't wager a single point. Just knudging out Kash for the win in the final seconds, and walking away with $50 in house cash. Team Kash, Red Rocket, and BS didn't walk away empty handed though. Kash scored $30, Red Rocket $15, and BS a round on me.
Well, I usually close with some witty words, but I believe that if someone else said it better, well them let them say it. I believe that Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt's character) from Inglorious Bastards said it best.

Applebee's on Colorado Blvd.Applebee’s Colorado Blvd. was the place to be last night. Teams came from as far away as Las Vegas to play for the Bee’s cash and bragging rights. Notably missing was Team Kyle, the reigning champion at Applebee’s Colorado Blvd. and America’s Team who has come close to the cup every week, but has yet to taste. The first half of the game proved to be a tight race with Team Vegas, TKO, Victorious Secret, and URABAS all within 4 points of each other. Diva, Please made a late appearance to the game and struggled to gain lost ground. As the point values went up, so did the stakes. The second half became a battle ground for the trivial elite. Team Vegas and TKO stayed neck and neck as they fought for first place. URABAS and Jason’s Heroes brought their A game during the second half, grabbing some much needed points to keep them in the hunt for the cup. Team Vegas led by just one measly point over TKO as the final question appeared. Risks were taken, fortunes won and fortunes lost on the final question. As the dust settled, Team Vegas emerged as the victor, their 15 point gamble keeping them in the lead and winning the game. TKO found the silver lining as they landed comfortably in second place and Victorious Secret felt the thrill of being on the podium in third place. URABUS, Jason’s Heroes, and Diva, Please fought valiantly to the end, only to feel the crush of defeat. Next week is a clean slate and it is anybody’s game. Which teams will be back to go for the gold? I will be there to find out.
