HIGHLIGHT REEL!

Here's this weeks Highlight Reel, a weekly review of the shows going on around town.

420! WELL KINDA ANYWAYS

With the “goings on" in Denver on Tuesday, everyone seemed to be able to put down the bong (I mean "waterpipe") and joined us for TRIVIA NIGHT! With the addition of the Avalanche Playoff game on television, it seemed to be an excellent night to be out.

To start our little voyage, I was driving back from Arvada and I was stuck in traffic in Downtown Denver that afternoon. While sitting in the parking lot the was Broadway and Colfax I could see in every direction a thousand people all gathering in Civic Center Park for the annual “420 Smoke Out” in Denver. With Marijuana being on the cusp of complete legalization in this state, everyone was showing their support by showing up Downtown for the “festivities”. So, I’m stuck in traffic downtown, and there is a cloud of smoke bellowing over the major downtown area, and I’m stuck in the middle of it. I’m surprised I didn’t get a contact high.

After the speeches were made and the rally cries died down, people started to get a serious case of the munchies. So they made their way out to Boston’s in Highlands Ranch and Applebee’s in Thornton to indulge.

Boston’s in Highlands Ranch is always an excellent time to be had by all. With the Avs’ playing on the big screen and the tunes a flying, people came out in droves to see what the fuss was all about. And when they got there, they realized that it was Patrick spinnin’ tunes and getting everyone in the mood for TRIVIA NIGHT! We were greeted with the regulars, as well as some new comers to the game. Team Molson, and Team Tres’ Comodores’ made an spectacular appearance by coming in 1st and 2nd , with being almost complete trivia virgins. Promocin Positive, a 2009 Winter League team, held the top spot all the way up until the final question, when they were bumped out of the lead. The final question truly is the only question that makes or breaks the game for some teams.

Up north in Thornton, Applebee’s on 120th and Grant St. was jumpin’ and jivin’ with Kent at the helm. Starting at the half time of the Avs game, Kent rocked and rolled until the house was ready to close for the night. With a killer happy hour, including ½ price appetizers, and $3 Brewtus (it’s the BIG BEER, 28oz) as well as mixing in a most awesome TRIVIA NIGHT special of 2 for 1 on All Bar Drinks, you can in fact eat and drink like royalty, and still have enough money for gas. Think of it this way. If you ordered a Domestic Brewtus for $3 you would get a 28oz beer. Now mix in the “Two’fer Tuesday’ deal and you get 2 Domestic Brewtus’ for $3. That’s 56oz of beer for $3. That’s 90% of a pitcher of $3!! I know it's a little bit of a drive for some of you in the southern area of Denver but, YOU CAN'T BEAT THIS DEAL!!
So come out next week and enjoy the good times.

NEITHER RAIN, NOR SLEET, NOR REALLY BAD JOKES, WILL KEEP PEOPLE AWAY FROM A GOOD NIGHT OUT IN DENVER!

Things started off a little slower than usual, what with the weather being totally crappy outside, but it soon picked up as the beer started flowing and the Trivia started happening. With only 4 teams starting, a minimum to have a game, 7 new comers to the game decided that this was what they wanted to do tonight and so they joined up shortly after the game started.

With the Happy Hour Specials a Flowin’, the $1 PBR Cans, $2 Pints and $3 Long Islands deals attracting the people in from the woodworks, and Patrick crackin’ bad jokes, Applebee’s in Broomfield was the place to be last night.

They're only real competition was Audrey over at the Colorado Blvd Applebee’s entertaining what seemed to be the entire DU student populous. Our FaceBook Promo’s yielded a 14 person group of students from DU to walk away with a free round of drinks on the house just for showing up to play. If you’re not our friend on FaceBook, maybe it’s time to get on it then. Only our friends on FaceBook are eligible for these types of prizes!

AND THE WINNER OF THE LONGEST TEAM NAME GOES TO: Applebee's Arvada's - "With the 11th Pick in the First Round of the 2010 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos Select Head Coach Bob Stoops".  Ya that took some effort to come up with, and probably more for our host Chris to remember all of the. LOL!  '11th Round Draft Pick... played an excelent game last night, walking away with second place.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!  5/6/10

Applebee's on Colorado Blvd.
Last night we had a great competition with a lot of laughter and friendly banter. The first half kept the playing field pretty open, with all of the teams within 14 points of each other as we moved into the second half. The game remained tight, but much to the dismay of all of the trailing teams, Team Kyle continued to gain ground on his lead.

As we prepared for the final question, Team Kyle was 8 points ahead of America's Team who were followed closely by the Grapefruit Hornets and Victorious Secret. Only two teams were able to dig into the crevices of their brains to come up with the correct answers for the final question. And they were…. Victorious Secret and Team Kyle. The final question confirmed Team Kyle’s seemingly unstoppable winning streak and brought a silver victory to Victorious Secret as they triumphed over America’s Team. No doubt all of the teams will be back next week. My guess on their collective goal, ‘Beat Kyle!’ Thanks for a great night! See you next week!

Wednesday night's game at Applebee's in Arvada was wicked close all night. Aim the Pickle, however, continued to be a force to be reckoned with taking the lead early and never really relinquishing it. They jumped up to 78 points by nailing the final question and betting the full 15 points. Fat Kids Always Win at Seesaw struggled through the first half but had a great second half and was benefited by scoring on all four bonus questions. Lost Boys finished in third after having a strong game but losing some points on the final question. Sabrina also played a great game, finishing in fourth but doing so while only having a one person team
